Winter Village Table Runner
I absolutely love everything Christmas, and look forward to having our cozy home decorated for the holiday. My husband has a strict no Christmas until after Thanksgiving policy. Usually, it is easy for me to wait to bring out the Christmas cheer, but this year I was ready to start celebrating the winter holidays as soon as Halloween was over. I found myself listening to Christmas music while my husband was at work to get my holiday fix.
When the time finally came to decorate we were scheduled to be out of town for a couple of days. That being said, I was very anxious to get my hands on my Christmas decor. One of the first things put out was a winter village table runner on our dining table. This village is a new addition to our Christmas decor. My two year old loved helping me pick out all of the tiny trees and houses. He thought we were buying the houses for the trees to live in and kept trying to stick the trees through the doorways! Needless to say this was a fun project for the whole family.
All of the items used for this project were from Hobby Lobby, Amazon, Target, and Walmart.
Supply List:
Large Metal House & Fairy Lights
I started by laying out a base layer of Fluffy Decorative to create a visual of the dimensions that I wanted my village to have. Once the base layer was down I placed the large metal house right in the middle. I then spaced out the smaller metal houses on either side of the center house. Next were the trees. I had a variety of different sizes and colors of trees, and I wanted to make sure that all of the same types of trees were not bunched up together. I placed my largest trees first making sure to balance the heights and colors on either side of the large house. Once the large trees were in place I moved onto placing the small trees. Since the trees all had different bases, I opted to cover the bases with the fluffy snow to give everything a more uniform look. Once the Trees were all placed I played around with the fluffy snow, filling in any holes or blank spots. The finishing touch was a dusting of fine snow. This helps give the fluffy snow more dimension and gives the whole village a fresh fallen snow look. The whole process was super simple and took me less than ten minutes to put together. Best of all, the kids absolutely love it!
